Summary, etc La d�ependance li�ee �a l'�age et au vieillissement est une question sociale r�esolument inscrite �a l'agenda politique des pays d�evelopp�es. Souvent rabattue sur le probl�eme du financement, elle constitue toutefois un d�efi majeur pour l'avenir de la protection sociale. Elle invite en effet �a un v�eritable renouvellement de l'Etat social, des formes et normes de l'action publique. S'ouvre d�es lors un vaste champ de questionnement, d'analyses et de r�eflexions pour les sciences humaines et sociales. Conceptualiser la d�ependance, terme sujet �a caution h�erit�e, en France, de l'approche g�erontologique, constitue un travail en soi. L'action publique, la l�egislation et les pratiques sociales se structurent �a partir de cat�egories de pens�ee qu'il convient d'appr�ehender de mani�ere critique. Les auteurs de cet ouvrage collectif qui fait dialoguer la philosophie, le droit, la sociologie, la science politique et l'�economie s'y sont employ�es, interrogeant notamment les notions de vuln�erabilit�e, de fragilit�e, de "capabilit�es" aujourd'hui en vogue dans les sciences sociales. Sont aussi pass�es au crible, compar�es, �evalu�es divers dispositifs d�edi�es �a la prise en charge des personnes �ag�ees d�ependantes. Les enjeux sont de taille, car il s'agit, ni plus ni moins, de placer la personne au centre de l'action sociale, lui reconna�itre son autonomie juridique, sa dignit�e, mais aussi de prendre en consid�eration le r�ole de l'entourage - les fameux "aidants" - et, finalement, de r�eorganiser les solidarit�es.
